Stine was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 8, 1943. As a child, Stine was more of an introvert and wanted to stay inside, write, and make jokes. He especially like to scare people. Soon he made his career out of the two things he loved, writing and scaring people. He found this passion for writing when he was only nine years of age. He had found an old typewriter in the attic of his house and decided to bring it down to his room and start typing. These were only little stories and joke books though. During his grade school years, he was more of the class clown and was a B average student who interrupted class a lot. He then went to Ohio State University and graduated in the year of 1965. From there he want to work for Scholastic and made comedy/joke books. It was not until 1986 when he published his first teen horror book with his wife Jane Waldhorn. One of his more known series is the Fear Street series which came out in 1989, and soon followed was the Goosebumps series in 1992. From there is more of his personal life, such as when he has his first and only child Mathew Stine. In 2014, Stine finally got his first grandchild by the name of Dylan Stine. This was when he decided to make his first picture book. Then in 2015 came out the movie Goosebumps starring Jack Black and in 2016 he made the 25th anniversary book for Goosebumps called Goosebumps SlappyWorld. We now have yet to see what amazing and spooky things R.L. Stine has yet to offer in the coming years.
