Reader's Journal
This book is a really good addition to the Fear Street. It's really descriptive and yet a very simple topic. I feel that R.L. Stine can do that very well without flaw. He does this time after time just with the regular Goosebumps series. Very simple topics and yet he always puts twists into it. Every time. He grabbed the idea of a ventriloquist puppet and turned it into a horror story. I also like how there are so many twists to the book, especially this book. I never expected what had happened because the hints were so minuscule but yet when you read what had actually happened you think to yourself on how much of an idiot you are. Then you laugh and smile by yourself and you look stupid and you laugh harder because you realize what you're doing and it continues on and on and on. Anyways, I feel like in the book Rachel took some very smart and executive decisions when things started to go bad. They were the decisions, in my opinion, that everyone should take in a situation like that. I for one would most likely have done the same thing. I do feel though that Rachel was blind by her love for Brendan that she didn't really think out what she was doing most of the time. She went to the party without even thinking about what other people were telling her. She didn't listen to the signs that were clearly shown to her. When her ex-boyfriend went to her and even when her best friend kept telling her that it wasn't a good idea to go to Brendan's house, Rachel kept on insisting that he asked her for a reason and she was distracted by the thought that he asked her just because he likes her.
